Amazon Jungle, Perú

Amazon Jungle: Manu Reserve & Mt PiniPiñi

This trip is designed for the adventurous whilst also allowing you to see the best of the reserve wildlife.

Manu is divided into three zones:

  • Intangible zone” is only accessible to scientists and researchers
  • Reserved zone” is only accessible to a limited number of tour operators and their tours
  • Cultural zone” is more accessible and where local Amazonian people live in small communities.

The cultural zone is home to several native communities of the Yine and Matsiguenka people who have initiated tourism projects. When visiting the park; chances to see wildlife are best in the reserved tourism zone; but wildlife experiences are also available in the cultural zone. This zone is the only place where you will be able to visit native communities; many of which still follow their traditional ways of life; such as hunter-gatherer traditions.

Midway; through the tour there is the opportunity to go through raw & uninhabited jungle; camp and then navigate the river back to the port town of Atalaya. So then; this is an expedition adventure through very rough jungle terrain; but provides the opportunity to see the jungle in its rawest form and experience the natural Amazon.

Highlights
Explore the abundant nature of Manu National Park.
Swim and bathe in the Rivers of the Zone.
Explore a route through this part of the jungle that not many will ever encounter!

Visiting the pre-Incan tombs of the Lupaca culture and then you'll stop in Paucartambo, a beautiful colonial city, and visit the museum of the town. On the way, taking lunch in the cloud forest. You'll continue your descent through the cloud forest, an area rich in endemic species, such as the spectacled bear and the rooster of the rock, the Peruvian national bird that performs a unique courtship ritual. You can also see orchids, bromeliads, ferns, etc. You'll continue to observe spectacular nature throughout your trip until reaching your lodge, Pilcopata Inn, spending your first night.

Here they eat clay, which is rich in minerals and helps them digest and eliminate toxins from their bodies. After, you'll return to our lodge for a delicious breakfast. Afterwards; taking a walk through the forest for 2 to 3 hours. Returning to the lodge for lunch and then rest or swim in the river.
