Amazon River: Isla de los Monos – 4 Days

Overview

La Isla de los Monos (Monkey Island) is a 450 hectare island sanctuary and rescue centre located 30km from Iquitos in the Amazon jungle of Peru. Their project rescues, rehabilitates and releases New World monkeys.

During your visit, you can observe a variety of species in their natural habitat and learn about how they care for young monkeys so they grow strong, healthy and independent.

See behind the scenes in the rescue centre and sanctuary created for rescued and orphaned monkeys. The monkeys they receive are all victims of the illegal pet trade, their goal is to rehabilitate them and help them create a new family group in preparation for their new lives as wild monkeys when released.

Our ecotours are a unique way to explore the Amazon with an authentic experience of living in the rain forest with the monkeys on the island.
