An escape from the normal daily routine, this comfortable/luxurious overland adventure takes you to some of the most exciting & diverse places to visit in Latin America!!!
Chile
Beginning your epic adventure in the Atacama Desert is the perfect introduction to Latin America! You’ll explore this stark landscape of lakes, high plains, and adobe villages by vehicle and by foot. On the final day, you can relax in hot springs and see geysers spurt boiling water skyward. In between, there are opportunities to visit small desert communities, spot wildlife and get to know the hardy people that call this area home.
San Pedro de Atacama, located on an arid plateau, will be your base of operations during this trip. The small town of low-slung buildings is a popular destination for foreign travelers and offers a range of excellent accommodation and restaurant options. The Atacama area is best reached by flight to Calama airport, which is a 1.5-hour drive from San Pedro.
Bolivia
Moving on from San Pedro de Atacama you’ll be transported to the breathtaking Uyuni Salt Flats. You’ll be able to enjoy remote sites like the Tunupa Volcano, Incahuasi Island, and colored lagoons filled with flamingoes before heading back to La Paz to sample more Andean cuisine and stroll through markets filled with art and textiles.
Perú
Starting in Lima, the north of Peru, still undiscovered by mainstream tourism, rewards any traveler who ventures off the beaten path with untouched ruins and vistas. Then down along Peru’s West Coast, past beautiful beaches with year-round surfing, you’ll arrive at the mysterious Nazca lines, immense geoglyphs carved into the desert sand.
Transitioning down to Arequipa you’ll reach Colca Canyon, before boarding the Andean Belmond Explorer for the experience of a lifetime. Your first-class train journey takes you from Arequipa to Laka Titicaca before arriving in Cusco.
You’ll explore Cusco, the Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu, the iconic ruins perched high above the Urubamba River. Arriving by first class train cabins you’ll be guided to explore the ruins with an expert guide in the citadel.
Flying out of Cusco, and heading to Iquitos, you’ll also experience the Peruvian Amazon onboard Delfin III, along the border of Brazil, which gives birth to many of the mighty tributaries of the Amazon River, full of wildlife, indigenous cultures, and pristine wilderness.
Ecuador
See contrasting sides of Ecuador, starting in Quito then moving to the Galápagos Islands to explore. Take a week-long cruise to discover the astonishing biodiversity of the Galápagos Islands, where you’ll meet playful sea lions, marine iguanas, and giant tortoises during stays on San Cristóbal and Santa Cruz. The country’s capital, Quito, sandwiches your island time—your springboard to discover Indigenous and colonial culture and the surrounding volcanic Andes.
Argentina/Brasil
City life in Buenos Aires is a constant blur and a must-see for any visitor interested in soaking up the exciting culture of this country. Argentina boasts a host of natural splendors as well, from the Iguazú Falls in the subtropical north to the icy beauty of Perito Moreno Glacier and the Andean salt flats. At this stage of the trip, you’ll agree that there’s nothing like a well-grilled Argentinian steak accompanied by a glass of local red wine!
