Trek along one of the less visited areas of this national park; crossing some high passes with views of the most spectacular valleys and glaciers. The Southern Patagonian ice field forms part of the backdrop to this trek route. After all; it is the second-largest extrapolar icefield that exists. It is the bigger of two remnant parts of the Patagonian Ice Sheet which covered all of southern Chile during the last glacial period, locally called the Llanquihue glaciation.

We had an amazing time in Peru! We booked the 18 days backpacker special tour across South Peru, and the whole trip, from accommodation to transport, was incredibly well organised. Every location we visited was beautiful, had great food, and the tour guides were all very friendly and informative. The Ausangate trek was also well planned, and the horsemen and cook made a huge difference. James and Edwin would also check in with us on a regular basis and keep us updated on the itinerary.
Definitely an incredible once in a lifetime experience!

I've just finished the winter W trek booked through unuraymi. Booking and communicating with James was straightforward and simple. The whole hiking experience was so wonderful- lead by the best guide, Andres and porter, Victor. They were instrumental to the trip being a truly special once in a lifetime experience. From knowing all the best spots and suggestions to give us the best hiking journey, to cooking delicious meals and making sure we were well fed and looked after at all times, Andres went above and beyond in order to give us a special experience. Couldn't have asked for a better, more memorable trip. Highly highly recommend this tour and especially Andres. :)

I had the best time doing the W Trek tour with Andres our guide and our porter Victor. The tour was incredibly well organised with Andres customising the itinerary taking into account the weather to ensure we got to see the view points at their absolute best. Andres’a cooking was also amazing considering we were out camping and only had the ingredients we were carrying. The tour is incredible and I can highly recommend.

We had the most amazing time completing the W-trek with our guide Andres. Since we were in off season the refugios were closed and we slept in tents. Most of the time we were the only ones there which made it a really special experience. Andres did amazing and he made sure everything was well arranged which was a bit more of a challenge since we were in off season. Most importantly we felt really save and in good hands with Andres! Also the contact with James was effortless and with very quick respons! We would definitely recommend!

I had a fantastic eight day trek in the Torres del Paine national park. James through his contacts in Chilean Patagonia was able to get me on the coveted "O" Trek with only a months notice (other trekkers at the campsites had booked in August or earlier). I keep describing the Trek to friends and family as hard but incredible!
The local guides and porters were all friendly and made the experience quite incredible. The trip was the reset that I needed at the end of 2022 and am thankful to Unu Raymi Expeditions for making it happen!

James at Uni Raymi sorted out a fantastic hike for my husband and I in Argentinian Patagonia. I don't think our guides Faco and Mika work in Peru, but I would certainly recommend them - they were very attentive to us and gave us a tailored experience that was challenging but not too much - and at the end of the day made us delicious food. They were also incredibly knowledgeable - we learnt a lot about the Patagonian landscape, animals and plants... Plus we felt like they were hosting and looking after us, not just guiding. It was a fantastic experience that we will never forget.

We did a 3-day trip with Unu Raymi that involved trekking through the Lares Valley and a day tour at Machu Picchu. We had an amazing time! The planning & communication with Unu Raymi was very organized, our local guides were exceptional, and we felt well taken care of the entire time. Would highly recommend!

My 18 day adventure around Southern Peru with Unu Raymi was fantastic - James and the Unu Raymi team were incredibly professional, organised and helpful.
From the start of the process, James helped me curate a flexible tailor-made tour at a very reasonable and competitive price. During my visit to Peru, James was highly communicative, friendly and went to extra mile on numerous occasions and provided an exceptional service.
Overall, my tour with Unu Raymi was a stress-free once-in-a-lifetime experience and a perfect way to see one of the most beautiful countries. You won’t regret booking with Unu Raymi!

I definitely can recommend Unu Raymi as your trip to Peru agency. Although they are not just an agency - they do a lot more. All the way during our Peru journey with Unu Raymi we feel confidence and care. We made Ausangate trekking, Sacred valley and Nazca lines with them. Everything they do is well planed. Moreover, during our trip heavy rains destroyed a part of rail road to Machu Picchu making it impossible for us to visit as planned, and Unu Raymi took the effort to replan the trip - making sure we visit it.

01
El Chaltén - Laguna Toro
An early departure from El Chaltén as we have 6 hours trekking through the forest until we reach Laguna Toro campsite. This hike passes through beautiful meadows whilst enjoying amazing views of the impressive Patagonian spires of Fitz-Roy and Cerro Torre. The Toro campsite is located at the edge of the forest, thus providing good protection from the wind.
Distance: 15 km +500
Trekking time: 6/7 hours
Physical Intensity: Medium
Accommodation: Wild camp
All meals: Snacks (B, L, D)
02
Viento Pass & Southern Ice Field
After breaking our camp we begin our trek towards the day’s first challenge: crossing the river Túnel via a zip line or wading depending on the river conditions. Then we continue walking uphill along big and spectacular moraines towards del Viento Pass – privileged viewing point of the Southern Ice Field. The name of this pass means Windy in Spanish, so we expect to feel the full-force of these notorious gales. Once over and onto the western slopes of the mountain we descend in direction to Paso del Viento camp, an ideal resting place with a crystal clear creek running next to our tents.
Distance: 13 km +900/-450
Trekking time: 7-8 hours
Physical Intensity: Medium-High
Accommodation: Wild camp
All meals: snacks (B, L, D)
03
Huemul Pass - Bahia de los Tempanos
Today we follow the trail that takes us alongside the Viedma glacier. We will always see the glacier from above, thus giving us spectacular views along the way. Along the day we pass by some sparkling mountain lakes and after lunch the hard work awaits us as we trek up to the Huemul Pass. At the top we could have the chance to see some Condors flying around since there is a huge “Condorera”. From the top of this wide pass and after taking the necessary time for resting, we have to descend a long and steep way thru the forest to get to our next camp at Bahia de los Tempanos (Icebergs), on the shore of Viedma lake with view to the glacier face.
Distance: 18 km +300/-900
Trekking time: 7-8 hours
Physical Intensity: Medium-High
Accommodation: Wild camp
All meals, snacks (B, L, D)
04
Bahia Tunel - El Chalten
From this last camp we have the chance to see some icebergs from the calving Viedma glacier and get spectacular pictures at sunrise. After breakfast we have a fairly easy trek to get to Bahía Túnel, including a last zip line. From the end of the trail we complete the day with a transfer that will take us to El Chalten 16 km away.
