Trek & Climb: Glaciar Halancoma

Embark on an adventurous 2-to-3-day trek & climb adventure through the Sacred Valley.

Level PD
Terrain & Route – The route is very steep, its access to the glacier and easy crossing to its summit. Northeast Face.

Nevado Halancoma is a (5,230m) glacial nevado located in the Cordillera Urubamba of Perú. It’s ice-capped summit complex, a series of prominent peaks aligned north-south, imposes itself over the Sacred Valley as a neighbour to the larger Nevado Verónica (5,820m).

Nevado Halancoma can be easily identified from the highlands north of Cusco, and also from the 4,316m pass of the Abra Málaga as you travel towards Quillabamba. This pass is the normal start point to  begin the ascent of the northern flanks of the mountain to the north summit, which measures 5,240m.

This is a glacial trek & climb which is ideal for beginners to the discipline of ice climbing.
