El Chaltén 360° Trek & Climb

El Chaltén is in an ecoregion called ecotone, the transition between the steppe and the forest. The plain abruptly leads to huge rock formations with forested valleys crossed by rivers and streams.

The seasons are well defined during the year, summer is mild with average temperatures of 12ºC, days with many hours of sunlight, usually windy, and moderate rainfall. The winter is cold, with an average temperature of 2ºC, short days, little wind, and sporadic snowfalls.

El Chaltén was declared the «National Capital of Trekking”. In this way it is officially recognized as adding value to the extraordinary combination of elements that are given in El Chaltén for mountain sports: a pristine and protected natural environment, numerous trekking circuits with varying grades of difficulty, dozens of climbing routes of very high technical requirements.

Overall, the trip was very nice and James was helpful and responsive! I started with the O Trek in Torres del Paine in Chile together with the friendly guide Fransisco/Pancho and the amazing cook/porter Teo from Peru. Afterward, I had a few very nice day hikes with the guide Martin in El Chaltén, Argentina.

I agree with Ally, this was an amazing trek and it was even better than I had imagined it would be! Edu is an amazing guide, fun to chat with when walking, and very knowledgeable about everything Patagonia has to offer. He adapted quickly to the minor weather challenges we faced and ensured we saw everything planned! Additionally, Teo is an amazing chef. His ability to craft delicious 2-course meals at every stop is incredible and is something I wish I could do even when I have a full kitchen at home! Always with a smile, he carried a massive pack for the entire trip to ensure that we enjoyed delicious meals, and was always willing to laugh with us at our poor attempts at speaking Spanish.

A 5-star trek and I will make sure to get my reviews in on those websites to ensure this company can continue to grow and give others the amazing experience that we had.

I will write a review on Google as well. But wanted to say that I have nothing but amazing things to say about the tour! It was a great route. And I cannot speak more highly of Eduardo and Teo. Eduardo is a very knowledgeable, kind, enthusiastic guide. And Teo’s food was so delicious! It was always a treat to come back to camp and enjoy a warm, delicious & somehow different meal each time! 5 Star Trek, would recommend very highly!
