Itinerary

Your reception will be at the Airport or Bus terminal of the city of Puerto Maldonado, considered the capital of biodiversity in Perú. Your transfer guide will receive you and take you to our office, where you can repack and take only what is necessary for your stay in our Lodge (If you have large suitcases, you can leave these safely in our office) Then heading to the River port to embark on a motor boat where you'll travel down the river Madre de Dios to the entrance of the Tambopata National Reserve for approx. 30 mins. Lunch: Boxed lunch on the boat & bottled water (Vegetarian options available). Upon arrival at the Tambopata National Reserve Checkpoint, your entry is recorded. Then you'll continue with a walk along a 3km trail, for an estimated time of 45 mins. During this tour you will have the possibility of seeing a great variety of birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, etc. Arriving at the shores of Lake Sandoval you'll board our rowing canoes where you'll navigate through the flooded palm forest until reaching the crystal clear surface of the lake before continuing to explore. Arriving at the Lodge, check in to your comfortable rooms. After a refreshing rest, you will have an introductory walk to discover the immense natural wealth of our tropical jungle. At night you have the opportunity to circumnavigate the lake in search of caimans.

Waking up early to visit Lake Sandoval in a canoe, to observe the local wildlife, such as: Hoatzin (Opisthocomus hoazin) a prehistoric bird, woodpeckers, toucans, tanagers, abundant fish such as (piranha, sardines, etc.), reptiles, varieties of monkeys such as; squirrel monkey, capuchin monkey, monkey red howler, etc., majestic macaws flying. You'll go in search of the family of giant otters (Pteronura brasiliensis) that roam the lake together, very active at this time of the day. Return to the lodge for breakfast. After breakfast, you'll return to the city of Puerto Maldonado. Transfer of one hour by the interoceanic highway, then a 17km unpaved road through the middle of the jungle to the port of Philadelphia, here we board a motorized boat heading to our next jungle lodge. After some lunch you'll settle in to your palm-roofed cabin. In the afternoon, visiting the Canopy Observation Tower. Waking up early once more to leave for the Macaw clay lick, "chuncho", the largest in the world.
