Patagonia – Torres del Paine National Park. Is one of the most spectacular parts of the Patagonia region and the southern Andes; located at the southern tip of the Americas. The park is a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve and one of the most visited in Chile. Torres del Paine lies between the Andes Mountains and the Patagonian Steppe in southern Chile giving on to the Atlantic coast. So then; it is an area of great scenic beauty; with many ridges, crags, glaciers, waterfalls, rivers, lakes and lagoons.
Then; this itinerary will cover the striking pointed peaks and massive glaciers of the Paine Massif and Southern Patagonia Ice Field; along what is popularly known as the “W” route based on its circuit shape.
El Calafate & El Chaltén. El Calafate is a very charming town of double pitched roofs and colorful gardens that always offers a friendly welcome to its travelers, plus it is also the gateway to the lakes, Andes and Southern Patagonian glaciers, namely the Perito Moreno Glacier. El Chaltén is a patagonian small town often proclaimed as the “National Trekking Capital of Argentina,” but it is also well-renowned for amazing climbing, camping, horseback riding, fishing, rafting, and many other outdoor activities. You’ll take part in some of the famous treks, including Mt. Fitzroy, and other activities here in Patagonian Argentina.
Following in just over a week; you will trek through almost 65 miles (100 km) of trails and stay at a variety of lodges; shelters (refugios) or camping for the overnights. After all; this tour is best suited for experienced trekkers; or physically-fit adventurers who are willing to practice hiking trails with, at times, demanding conditions. Crowds of trekkers/travellers are more prevalent during the high season; which also overlaps with pleasant summer weather in the Southern Hemisphere.
